I find this album very relaxing; Robin Williams has a marvelous talent to reach out to anyone who listens to her beautiful playing. Even though her music isn't the hardest music avalible, I feel that her playing is much better than most professinal pianists. I have shown this cd to many of my friends, even the ones who DESPISE classical music, love this cd and say "This is great, I love it!"
A Heartfelt Thank You
I'm writing to say thank you for sharing the gift of your beautiful recordings with strangers like me. Classical music has always been an important part of my life--I grew up playing piano, and even met my husband through music. It was our freshman year of college, and he brought his guitar to the common room where he heard me playing. He introduced himself to me and asked if I would like to improvise with him, so we did, and we became good friends before we started dating the following year. 6 years later, I walked down the aisle to Les Barricade Mystérieuses from "A Piano in the House: Music from Hearth and Home".
Light and Effortless Sound
Just heard your piano playing after hearing “les barricades misterieuses” played by KHATIA BUNIATISHVILI on classical radio. Searched it on Spotify and your piece came up. A very beautiful song played so lightly and effortlessly. I listened to your whole album and have added it among other artists to emulate when I practice. I can learn simple to intermediate seemingly through brute force, but the artistry was never easy; the eyes inevitably look at the keyboard, and “effortless” is never how any of my piece's sound! Thank you for your artistry. I hope you have taught it to many!
What a Blessing to get your CD!
My wife is 74 years old and unfortunately suffering the progressive effects of dementia and severe depression. She was a piano major at Drake University following high school, and throughout her life, until recently, enjoyed playing a great deal. She was a church pianist for many years as well. Because of her mental situation, we find that listening to light classical and other light piano works is more conducive to providing a more relaxing environment than any other type of stimulus. She can more easily relate to solo piano than anything else. I am thankful for this. I just wanted to communicate that it was a blessing to get your CD and look forward to getting the other two you described.

I just wanted to take a minute to mail and say how much I enjoy your recordings. Your rendering of Les Barricades is - to me, at least - the definitive recording. It’s unhurried but precise, practiced without being flat. There are a quite a few other versions on Spotify and some of them are terrible, ranging from left-hand/right-hand disconnects to the horrifying hell-for-leather versions that aren’t mysterious at all!
I found Signs of Spring this morning and am looking forward to a first listen of that this afternoon.
Pandora opened up my world to your music!
Months ago my Pandora stream opened up my world to your lustrous "A Piano in the House". This note is to simply share with you how much joy your music brings. Thank you. For numerous reasons, my family has been unsettled over the past three years, moving from our home in Brooklyn, NY to Costa Rica and then British Columbia (Canada). I yearn to nest; and your music (along with my lovely little family) brings me closest to that spirit. (And the cover art is the epitome of cozy -- that secure, warm, and dynamic home space will never go out of style.)

I apologize for writing you out of the blue. I just wanted to let you know that as I was sitting in my home in Boston this evening your performance of Les Baricades by Couperin started playing from my computer and I was reminded of how much I've enjoyed your performances.
Two years ago, I set out on a cross-country bicycle trip with my best friend and yours was one of the dozen albums I had on my tiny little iPod. You're playing offered a terrific respite from the rain and the wind and was the perfect accompaniment to many beautiful sunny days lazily pedaled soaking up the natural wonder all around me. It was a backdrop to the rolling blue mountains of West Virginia, verdant green plains of Kansas and dazzling orange canyons of Utah.
It's a superb compilation of music and has been a terrific companion. I am always happy to hear it playing in the background when I am preparing dinner or relaxing in the living room. We live in an odd time when everyone is connected and yet we permit those connections to be entirely passive. Music seems to be enjoyed even more passively with the advent of digital downloads and yet artists are people like anyone else. If someone baked, you a cake you wouldn't eat it silently and then get up and leave. After 5 years of listening to your album, I figured it was about time I let you know how much I appreciate it; so I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for sharing something you are passionate about and putting a little more music in the world. It's a great gift and I am happy to have it in my life.

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your wonderful performance of Les Barricades Mysterieus. It is one of my favorite pieces, yet I’ve struggled to find a recording I can truly become lost in, until finding yours. I have scoured the internet and found your interpretation to be unique and most like I want to hear when I listen to the piece. You bring out the voices I want to hear and push and pull at the right times(for me). Thank you very much for ending my search for a recording I can play on loop endlessly and enjoy every time.

I love this CD! Robin Williams (not the comic) says that she is rediscovering the "domestic repetoire". She means that back in the day most households had their own pianos and family members who played. The music was not grand and showy, like for concert halls: it was more fit for household peace and harmony. In this collection she means to rediscover that kind of music.

I have been trying to find the "Robin Williams" that performed on the A Piano in the House album that I have become obsessed with. I enjoy listening to classical music while I'm working – Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Debussy, and so many others. This album started playing on my Pandora Radio station and I fell in love with the songs chosen to be recorded.
