Meet the Musician

Hey, it's nice to meet you - I'm Robin!

Meet Robin Williams—a pianist, educator, wife and mother who brings the comfort of live piano music right into your home.  Raised in Kansas City and trained at the Eastman School of Music, Robin has called New Orleans home for over three decades.  As a Professor of Music at the University of New Orleans and as the newly elected State President of the Louisiana Music Teachers Association, she’s spent her professional lifetime nurturing the next generation of musicians.

Bringing Classical Piano Music to Your Home with Heart and Elegance

Robin Holtz Williams knows firsthand how a piano in the house can transform ordinary moments into something warmer and more meaningful. A Kansas City native, Robin earned her Bachelor of Music from the UMKC Conservatory before continuing her studies at the Eastman School of Music, where she received both her Master’s and Doctorate in Piano Performance and Literature. In 1990, she brought her talent and passion to New Orleans, joining the faculty of the University of New Orleans.  For over thirty years she has taught piano, shaped young musicians, and even served as Chair of the Music Department.  In October 2025, she took on a new role as State President of the Louisiana Music Teachers Association—work that reflects her deep commitment to music education at every level.  Yet alongside this distinguished academic career, Robin has always carved out space for something more personal: creating music that quietly enhances the rhythm of family life.

That vision gave birth to her acclaimed series A Piano in the House.  The three released albums—Music for Hearth and Home, Signs of Spring, and On a Winter’s Eve (with Summer Breezes on the way in 2026)—are thoughtfully curated to support the way real families live.  Robin carefully blends timeless classical favorites with exquisite pieces by lesser-known or forgotten composers, many drawn from out-of-print scores she has lovingly revived.

Her playing is refined yet inviting, never overpowering—it is intended to be the perfect accompaniment for shared meals, evening unwinding, or a child drifting off to sleep. Listeners often share how these recordings have become part of their homes: one mother writes, “We listen to Robin’s CDs during meals and our daughter loves listening to them while reading or before bed.” Stories like these remind Robin why she records this way—to offer the warmth and personal involvement of a live pianist without the formality of a concert hall.

For those who take pride in curating a comfortable, graceful home environment, Robin’s music feels wonderfully familiar.  She’s a wife and mother herself who balances a rich professional life with the everyday joys and demands so many of us know well.  Her series stands apart online because it isn’t about flashy virtuosity; it’s about bringing beauty, calm, and a touch of intellectual depth into the heart of family life.

Welcome to Robin’s piano in the house, in your house.

Robin & the Piano

My mother said that when I was two years old I crawled up to the piano and wiggled the keys.  When I was five I attended my first neighborhood piano recital.  I can still recall everything about the room where I sat and about the child playing the piano.  It was then and there that I decided to play the piano when I grew up.  After a little begging on my part, my mother decided to send me out for piano lessons.

I would spend all kinds of practice time making up music and generally “messing around”.  My adventures with the piano ever since have been as much explorations into my soul as learning the mechanics of how to play.  Most of life’s revelations have come to me while practicing.  For me, playing the piano is like a runner’s high. It makes me feel vibrant and alive.

I have developed a style that looks and sounds effortless.  My study has been to appreciate how the body moves and flows through the music.  As a result, the music on this CD brings ease and serenity to the listener.

I have been fortunate to have had friends and teachers who have taught me a great deal.  These days, my circle of friends includes many non-musicians who happen to love the sound of the piano.  This collection is for them and the many others who, though “wowed” by technical display, really just want something beautiful for their lives.
